#Growvember Leaderboard

The month of November is dedicated nationally to the awareness of men’s health issues, often celebrated with overgrown facial hair and magnificent mustaches. Grow-vember is a campaign aiming to spark conversations about men’s health and act as a call to action for men to grow their mustaches or beards for the entire month in support. “We just want to grow mustaches and beards,” said Cody Champagne, Mac Cimbura and Lucas Morken, Physical Therapists at JRMC, founders of the fundraiser. Throughout the month drop cash for staches in jars at JRMC or visit  http://growvember.everydayhero.do/ to set up your team or donate to others. Please share beard/stache selfies on the JRMC Facebook page. Support will go to the JRMC Cancer Center campaign. Give the team props for a job well done and mustaches well grown. Contest winners will be announced via facebook at the celebration social at Jonny B’s on Tuesday, November 28th at 5:30...

Smettes named Philanthropists of the Year

Known for their volunteer work with service clubs, disaster relief, business development, education and healthcare, Dave and Claudette Smette are passionate about making the community, and the world, a better place. Jamestown Regional Medical Center Foundation named the Jamestown couple its Philanthropists of the Year for 2017. JRMC presented the award to the couple at its Pillars of Giving event on Sept. 12. Dave Smette joined JRMC’s Foundation board in 2009. In addition to Smette’s work at Jamestown Regional Medical Center, he and Claudette are also active with the Jamestown Rotary Club, Jamestown Tourism Board of Directors, U.S. Small Business Administration’s local SCORE chapter, the Jamestown Community Foundation, American Red Cross and Jamestown Chamber of Commerce. Prior to his life as a full-time volunteer, Smette served as the superintendent of Jamestown Public Schools. “Dave and Claudette are role models for the community,” said JRMC Foundation Director Lisa Jackson. “We all should aspire to give back the way they do.” With the help of supporters like Dave and Claudette, JRMC constructed its new building in 2011. That dedication helps grow the future of care for the community. “It’s because of people like Dave and Claudette that JRMC can offer the services it does. Rural healthcare is possible because of the generocity of community members like them,” Jackson...

My husband and I could not imagine being faced with a financial burden at the same time. My goal in creating this fund was to help families with the financial burden so they can focus on grieving their loss,” said Dr. Mandy Sorlie.   Thank you to last year’s 2016 Sponsors      ...

Jamestown, N.D., September 14, 2016- The Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) Foundation held its annual Pillars of Giving celebration on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016 at the University of Jamestown Reiland Fine Arts Center. The celebration honored supporters of the JRMC Foundation, announced the Philanthropist of the Year and celebrated growth and future of care at JRMC. During the celebration, the JRMC Foundation presented the 2015 Philanthropist of the Year Award to Patricia Dardis. The award is bestowed to an individual, couple, organization or business who has demonstrated exemplary civic engagement service and a commitment to local healthcare. Dardis has dedicated her career to healthcare. As a graduate of the Jamestown College nursing program, she went on to receive her Master of Science (MS) for Adult Health, Parent-Child Nursing & Family Nurse Practitioner from South Dakota State University. Dardis spent 23 years of her career in primary care at Sanford Heath. She was also an assistant professor at the University of North Dakota for 16 years and most recently provided medication management to a diverse population of acutely and chronically mentally ill individuals at South Central Human Service Center. In 2008, John Dardis, a life-long resident of Jamestown, N.D. passed away after a valiant battle with colon cancer. As a business owner, active community member, hunter, friend and family man, he was known for his honesty and generous giving of time and kind gestures. After his passing, John’s wife, Patty and their family were inspired to develop the John Dardis Memorial Hospice Gift Fund as a way for John’s selfless nature to continue. This fund has provided a sherpa blanket to every JRMC Hospice patient for comfort and warmth. The fund also supports small gifts of non-medical needs to help families during end-of-life care. This has included a night’s hotel room stay, in-home communion, birthday gifts, books, haircuts and other meaningful gifts. This has included a night’s hotel room stay, in-home communion, birthday gifts, books, haircuts and other meaningful gifts. In her acceptance speech, Dardis said she was “humbled to tears,” when she received the news of her award. She went on to say that the honor was not hers, but should go to her husband, John. “This honor is not about me,” said Dardis. “It is about a man with a passion for the people of this geographic region, a man who would do anything he could to be helpful, supportive and giving. He was a selfless soul. This Gift Fund is John, and reflects his belief that we are here for the sole purpose to help one another.” Attendees of the event also enjoyed appetizers and a special opportunity to listen to keynote speaker and published author, Rich Bluni, R.N.
